Ned’s Book of Mormon Witness

Hi. My name is Ned and I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When I was nineteen years old I had one of the most amazing experiences of my life, in fact, it was an event that has shaped my life ever since.

The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture similar to the Bible. Because of the Book of Mormon, many people inadvertently call us the Mormons. The Book of Mormon tells the story of a group of people who lived in Jerusalem near the time of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. The leader of this group was a man named Lehi who, like Jeremiah, was a prophet. Lehi was warned in a dream of the coming destruction of Jerusalem, and was told that he and his family must leave Jerusalem right away.

The Book of Mormon gives God’s dealings with Lehi and his posterity over a thousand years. Another prophet named Mormon put together and condensed all of these records into one volume, which is why we call it the Book of Mormon. It teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The experience I spoke of earlier was the process that I went through which developed my conviction and my witness of the reality of God, His son Jesus Christ, and the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

If you go back far enough in my family tree, you’ll find that my ancestors joined the Mormon Church in Scotland during the mid 1800’s. They then immigrated to the United States, and eventually to Utah.

Something happened to the second generation of McArthur’s after arriving in Utah. There are indications that generation lost the faith. This continued through every generation until me.

About the time I turned twelve my family left Utah, moving to Michigan. I went to Sunday meetings with my family, and participated in youth activities throughout my teenage years, but we were never really religious. So, like my ancestors, I never developed any convictions about God or the tenets of the Mormon faith.

As a young man in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I had been taught to go on a two year mission when I turned nineteen, and having no other direction in my life I decided to go. Being an immature nineteen-year old, living away from home for the first time, and having very little knowledge and faith in what I was supposed to be teaching, I became overwhelmed and I ended up having a melt-down. I told my mission president I was quitting and going home. Apparently this was a complicated process because I was told that it was going to take a few weeks. During this time I continued to tag along with my missionary companion, without really investing myself into what we were doing.

Then it happened.

We were teaching a young lady and she asked a question about being saved by grace that my companion wasn’t answering to her satisfaction. Then, a verse I don’t remember ever reading previously came to mind. It’s found in the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:23 which reads “… for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” We read the verse together and I explained that it is by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ that we are saved. With that grace we have certain responsibilities. She got it. She later converted and was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Twenty-four years have passed since that evening, but I clearly remember what I thought and what I felt that night.

After we finished our discussion with this young lady, we walked out the front door and I remember thinking, “I’m not going home.” Why God spoke to me that night I may never know, but I do know that He did.

Near the end of The Book of Mormon, a prophet named Moroni gives a promise to those who read the book. He promises that if one will read The Book of Mormon with sincere desire to know the truth of it, and ask God in faith if it is true or not, he promises the reader that by the Holy Ghost they will know of its truth. It’s found in Moroni 10:4 and it reads:

“And when ye shall receive these things, (meaning the Book of Mormon) I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.”

After my experience, I tested the Book of Mormon the way Moroni suggests. The answer came a little at a time, but the answer did come. Over the weeks and months that answer transformed me from an immature, directionless teenager, to a man with a purpose.

Through the Book of Mormon I’ve come to know the reality of God, our Father in Heaven, and in His son Jesus Christ. I know prayers are answered, and I know God has a plan for me, as he does for each of us, and that plan is far better and far more amazing than anything I could have previously imagined.

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (commonly referred to as Mormons) my whole life. However, I’m not so different from everyone else. I’m a freshman college student like all my friends. I love to laugh and have a good time. I get stressed out about school, drama, and everyday life. Yet, all of the craziness that comes with moving 2,000 miles away from my family makes me so grateful for the gospel in my life.

Even though I grew up within The Church of Jesus Christ, it took me awhile to realize that I had a witness of its truthfulness. When I was about 11, the prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley, asked the church membership to read the entire Book of Mormon before the end of the year. I wasn’t quite sure why, but I really had a desire to take that challenge. It was the first time that I had read the entire book all by myself. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, is another testament of Jesus Christ written by the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. It was passed down from generation to generation until a prophet named Moroni buried the record in a hill. Then in the 1800’s Moroni came as an angel to Joseph Smith and told him to find and translate the record.

At the end of the book, in Moroni chapter 10:4 the Lord makes a promise to everyone who reads it. It says,

“And when ye shall receive these things, [The Book of Mormon] I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.”

So I followed the challenge our prophet gave us and read the book. When I finished on Christmas morning, I simply said a prayer. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it didn’t seem like I got my answer right away.

Over the course of the next year or so, I didn’t lose faith. I was a little unsure of myself, but I kept going to The Church of Jesus Christ and doing the things that I needed to be doing. Yet, I really wanted to find out for myself. I had a sincere heart and real intent. As I thought about the rest of the promise, I realized I also had to ask having faith in Christ. Did I have faith in Christ? Pondering upon this, I realized that I knew I had faith in Christ. Then I looked back at the question of the Book of Mormon and I realized that I knew it was true as well. I had known all of this time, without even perceiving it. I had stronger faith than I even realized.

As I planted that small seed of testimony in my heart, I continued to read the Book of Mormon. Since then and now I feel the Holy Ghost testifying of its reality to me every time I read. I think it is interesting that Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon go hand-in-hand. Knowledge of one comes from knowledge of the other. I have gained a greater testimony of Jesus Christ from reading about His life in the Book of Mormon. I have also gained a stronger testimony of the Book of Mormon through praying about it with faith in Christ.

I am so grateful that I gained that small testimony when I was just a little girl. I see the blessings that the gospel brings to my life every day. Although I have gone through hard times of doubt and discouragement, I still know that our Savior, Jesus Christ lives and loves us. The Book of Mormon is such a wonderful opportunity for the world to learn more about Him and His life on earth. The world is a difficult place to be these days, and I honestly don’t know what kind of person I would be or what choices I would be making without Jesus Christ in my life. The Savior knows about everything we go through and He is the only person who knows how to comfort us completely. I invite all to take a chance and read the Book of Mormon. I promise that it can change anyone’s life for the better.

Karen’s Book of Mormon Witness

Recently, a sincere question posted on a Christian forum read, “Is the Book of Mormon a door to God?” I thought to myself, “Yes, in a way, it really is.” It opens our eyes to the Savior in much the same way as the Bible does. The Book of Mormon is advantaged in that it does not contain the errors induced by copyists and translators.

Some say, “Why do we need anything more than the Bible?” To them, I’d simply ask, “What’s unusual about an author, much less the Author of our faith, addressing us in more than one volume?” His relationship with us hasn’t ended, and neither have His revealed words.

I searched for a copy of the Book of Mormon in a number of libraries in Philadelphia, after having learned about it, ironically enough, through an Anti-Mormon brochure. Finally, I located one, and I took it home (with some ice cream), and stayed up most of the night reading it. I’d read literature from a number of denominations–from Swedenborgian to Christian Science–but I immediately recognized this book as the additional revelation that God intended for all of us to receive. I received a witness that it was true.

I’ve read and re-read the Book of Mormon, each time with a new understanding of my potential and God’s purposes. It keeps unfolding, kaleidoscopically. As I’ve plead for wisdom in my undertakings, and asked for guidance as a mother, as a friend, as professional, as a student, I have never wanted for an answer. Those answers have changed me, guided my steps, motivated me to overcome, helped me to balance justice and mercy, and brought me peace. It’s all there, tucked away in a true account of our forefathers and mothers. It’s a life-changing book, pre-dating our time but post-dated for our needs.

The Book of Mormon is about God’s power to deliver. It’s about the Savior’s ultimate reach, how far He will go to extend mercy and love to each of us in His family and how we can try to do likewise; it’s about God’s justice in allowing the consequences of sin to meet the ungodly if they persistently rebel against light and knowledge. It’s about the power of our personal faith and the perfection of that faith through adversity and struggle and growth. It’s an inspiring work that activates the power of faith in our lives and prepares us to see God.

I have to say that I’d be grateful if we just had certain portions of the Book of Mormon, like:

Alma 32: It’s a chapter that I refer to as the “Lord’s Formula for Success,” or the “Faith Version of the Scientific Experiment.” The Lord tells us how we can know what is “real” spiritually. It’s profoundly simple and simply profound.

1 Nephi 4: This chapter has been a template that I’ve overlaid in my life time and time again as I’ve encountered a new challenge, or taken a new direction, walking in faith. It is an absolute witness of the ways in which the Lord will guide us individually, according to our aptitudes, and help us move forward “not knowing beforehand the things which we should do.”

Alma 52: The physical war tactics described in this chapter are a type of spiritual war tactics. As I read this chapter, I’m reminded that I need to continue to defend my daughters from the voices which call housework and motherhood slavery, and which seek to “flatter them out of their strongholds,” overtaking them.

I’d be grateful to have been graced with just those passages, but even more so, having been given 531 pages of similar spiritual nuggets in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

I add my voice of testimony to the many who likewise testify, that the Book of Mormon is divine, a much-needed second witness of a perfect, loving, Savior, Advocate, Redeemer and Father in Heaven. My Dear Friend,

The Book of Mormon is a gift from God to you. It is the word of God given through the prophet Joseph Smith to us today. If you read it and pray about its teachings, I promise you it will change your life. It will increase your faith in God. You will know that He lives and loves you. It will bring you comfort as the Holy Ghost testifies to you of its truths. It will strengthen you to meet the challenges in your life. It will help you chart a course towards a fuller and happier life. I plead with you to drink deeply from its pages. If you will, you will have joy and happiness like you have never known before. If there was only one book left in the world to read I would hope it would be The Book of Mormon.

I know these things are true because it has continued to bless my life since I first read it over 40 years go. May it bless your life too.

Through my life, I have seen trials and blessings that the Lord has given me. Life throws curve balls at times, but I feel blessed to be able to take the rough times and continue forward because of faith in Jesus Christ. I know that Christ is the Savior of the world. I want to share with you my personal testimony that I know Christ is the Savior of the world.

It is hard sometimes to have faith that Christ is capable of healing our sins, especially because he lived so long ago. I am so grateful for the power of God to preserve writings from inspired servants so that we can know of His teachings and will for us. The Book of Mormon is a testimony to the world that Christ lived and died for the sins of the world. I know that it is a true book, written by true prophets, that has withstood the test of time so that we could know of the love of God for each one of us. We are God’s children. I know that he loves every one of us perfectly. He knows each of our names. He knows my situation and understands my difficulties. Christ knows how to help us because He has suffered everything that we will go through on this earth. I am so grateful for the knowledge that we have of Christ’s atonement, and the opportunity to repent, so that we can return to live with our Eternal Father for eternity. I know families are forever.

The Book of Mormon is another testament, along with the Bible, that we are not alone here on the earth, and that this doesn’t all end with death. God has a plan for each of us. He always is waiting for us to come to him.

One of the biggest blessings in my life has been growing up in family that attended church regularly. From when I young, I remember going to church meetings and learning of Jesus Christ and His teachings. As a family we would read scriptures together before we would go to bed, and we would talk about how to apply the scriptures in our lives. This practice was great, but at a certain point in my life I knew that if I was going to continue to live my life according to principles and teaching outlined in these books, I had better be sure I truly believed what the scriptures were saying.

There is a promise in the last section of the Book of Mormon called Moroni. In chapter 10 verses 3-5, this prophet of ancient times was instructed by the Lord to leave a promise that if any man (or woman) reads and studies the Book of Mormon, by the power of the Spirit, the truth would be made known unto them. This petition to know if these words and teachings are true is done by means of prayer.

I encourage you to read and think about what is being taught in this great book. Enjoy the wonderful feelings that you will have as you do so. Kneel down in prayer and ask God, your Father in Heaven, if these things are true. I have done this, and I have experienced the happiness and joys of knowing the truth. I know that the Book of Mormon is a valid and true book of scripture given to us from God, to lead and guide us in this tough world. I know that God still communicates with us just like in ancient times. If we read the scriptures and pray, God will answer! I hope this book can change your life for the better as it has mine!

I want you to know you that The Book of Mormon is true! My life has changed through reading its pages and trying my best to live the ideas presented to me. I have read this book to find answers to difficult problems in my life, and have always come away feeling better, with a new direction in mind. Sometimes I read its pages just to make me feel better inside.

I have come to know the stories in the Book of Mormon, and I testify to you that they are true, and that they have been written for us today. Some of my favorite stories are of Lehi’s family, and their journey to this Promised Land. I love the courage Nephi always had to face his brothers and to do what was right. I also love the story of Alma, and his son, Alma the Younger. Through this story, I know that I can be forgiven for my sins, and that the Lord never gives up on us. My favorite part is in 3 Nephi, when Jesus Christ, our Savior, comes to visit the people. I love to read this part over and over again. My favorite scripture is in 2 Nephi 31:20. It talks about pressing forward with hope; it guides my life, and lets me know that if I can just endure to the end of my days, I can have eternal life. What an incredible gift!

Please take the time to read from the pages of this book. It will change your life. I love my Heavenly Father, and his son Jesus Christ. I know that I am a child of God, with divine potential, and so are you.

I would like to tell you I know that what you will read in The Book of Mormon is true.

As the cover states, The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. Jesus is our Savior and He came to the people in the book to further show the world that He is the Son of God, and He organized His church as he had done in Jerusalem. This may sound weird to you so I don’t expect you to take my world alone. Read it for yourself.

In the very last section there is a book called Moroni. Read Moroni 10:3-5 and take its challenge to read, study, and pray to ask God if it is true. You can know for yourself.

Life is not easy. We all have challenges to overcome. I testify that you can find answers for many of these questions and challenges by studying the Book of Mormon. It can help life make more sense. It can bring comfort and peace.

Jesus loves each of us. He knows you personally and wants you to succeed and be happy. Reading the Book of Mormon can be a first step towards peace in your life.

The Book of Mormon is my favorite. I know the contents therein teach true principles that will lead to eternal happiness. This book changed my life, and has led me to gain knowledge of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I know that a young boy, Joseph Smith, saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and that through him the fullness of the gospel was restored to the earth. I know that he was a true prophet, and that he translated The Book of Mormon through the power of God. No ordinary, or scholarly, man can write this. It was sent to us from heaven to teach us how to return to the presence of our Father one day.

We have a living prophet to lead and guide our church today; President Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet and is the mouthpiece of God, just as were the prophets Adam and Moses in times of old.

It is so comforting to me to know of the Plan of Salvation; to know that this life is not the end, or the beginning. We lived with our Heavenly Father before this life, and we can live with Him again after this life, if we live worthy. Best of all, we can live with our families forever; these sacred relationships do not end at the grave, but carry on into eternity. I love my family and will do all that I can to make that possible. The gospel teaches me how to live and how to always be better.

I know that my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, lives. I know that He loves me and all His children. I know that because He loves us, He came to earth and set a perfect example for us to follow; and because we are not perfect, He died for us and suffered for our sins, so that we can become perfect through His atonement. I know that He hears and answers prayers. I know that He will come to my aid and bless me with peace and strength in moments of need, if I reach out to Him in humility. He has never left me alone, even in my darkest moments. I know Him, and I love Him!

Please take the time to read and pray about the truthfulness of this book. If you pray in faith, believing that you will receive an answer, you will feel of the love of your Savior. You too can find true and everlasting happiness through the Atonement, and the love of Christ. It is the most precious gift I possess, and I want you to have it too.

Today was my baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was one of the greatest days of my life. I felt the Holy Spirit so greatly that I wish these feelings would last forever. God has truly blessed me in so many ways. He has answered my prayers and led me to the true church of Christ. He has blessed me with a wonderful family, and terrific friends, and church members who have given me nothing but love and support. I’m so thankful for Jesus Christ and the Atonement. I look forward to the day when we will be heirs to the Kingdom of God, with our Savior and brother Jesus Christ. I love Him with all my heart and I know He loves and watches over me.

These are the feeling I felt the day I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I hope you find these words encouraging and uplifting and I hope you find the desire to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it is true. I know with all my heart that he will answer your prayers, and manifest to you the truth of His teachings. May God bless you and be with you always.

I am a 20-year old young man currently serving a mission for my church in Hong Kong. I left my family over 7 months ago and will be gone for a total of 2 years. As a missionary, we have the opportunity to share The Book of Mormon daily! What a blessing it is because I KNOW that it is true. The way I know of its truthfulness is because I have read it, cover to cover, and I have prayed. And through the power of the Holy Ghost I know that it is true! You can know for yourself. I am not asking you to believe me; I am asking you to trust in God.

In the last book of the Book of Mormon, there is a prophet named Moroni, and in chapter 10 versus 3-5, he gives us a promise that if we read this book, ponder about its teachings, and ask God the Eternal Father in the name of Christ, we can know ourselves this book is true.

Now it’s up to you if you want to figure out if this book is true. If you do as Moroni directs, you will get your answer, and you will have the opportunity to feel the love of your Savior Jesus Christ. I know this book is true, and through the Atonement of Jesus Christ we can all return to live with God and have eternal happiness!

I am so glad when someone chooses to pick up The Book of Mormon, because when they do, they have just made the best decision of their life!!! The Book of Mormon means everything to me. Through this book you can find peace, happiness, answers, and the love of our Eternal Heavenly Father. It may seem hard to believe, but it is true.

I’m sure you have had some hard times in your life, and may feel like nothing as small as a book could change your life now. However, this is not an ordinary book. The Book of Mormon contains the true and everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. He knows everything about you and loves you endlessly. He knows the mistakes you have made, and the suffering you might be going through, and this book is exactly for that purpose—to heal our wounds and fill us with His love.

I know, without a doubt, if you read The Book of Mormon with a sincere desire to know if it can fill you with his love, the Holy Ghost will bear witness to your heart that it is true. I am so grateful for this book in my life, and the peace having the Savior in my life brings. I know He lives and that His atonement is real. There is not one thing he can’t help us with if we will come to him. I have felt His redeeming power in my own life. I am so grateful that we have this testament of Jesus Christ, along with the Bible, to help guide us in our lives. I know this to be true, and pray that you may also feel of its power and truthfulness.

I love the Book of Mormon. When I became a teenager I remember being challenged for the first time to read the entire book. That first reading was difficult as the words and the language were different than the modern books I was used to. But I remember after reading it there was a feeling that came to me. It was a peace and a joy that seemed to make me feel I had accomplished something that was pleasing to God. I soon decided that the Book of Mormon would be a part of my life forever. Over the years I have re-read the Book of Mormon many times and have found much spiritual strength in its words.

There is power in the Book of Mormon. Every time I seriously read and ponder the words of the book, I feel the Spirit of God. The spirit testifies of the truth of the book, but it also gives me direction. I find answers to my own personal problems, confidence to face them and perspective on my life and the world around me. When I receive that spiritual power I feel fulfillment and a deep peace that all things will be okay, that the storms in my life will pass, that the desires of my heart will one day be fulfilled and that I will eventually rise up to live with God and my family forever.

Through reading the Book of Mormon I have come to a better understanding of who I am and what my purpose is here on the earth. I have been taught what it means to be humble, what it means to be diligent, what it means to be filled with the spirit. I have discovered what faith is and what belief is and how to arrive at a position of absolute and unshakable confidence. I have learned what it means to have a vision and a dream for myself and reach higher. And I have learned that even though I am imperfect, I can still be great.

When I share the Book of Mormon with others I also feel that power. I know that happens because God wants all of his children to receive and read the book. Embedded in the Book of Mormon are some of the most powerful stories of regular men doing amazing things with the support of God. There is no better guide to understanding the workings of the Spirit, how to invite the spirit and how it changes people. In fact it is an amazing experience to discover that the Holy Ghost is woven through the stories in the book and every time it is read that spirit can be felt.

The Book of Mormon was designed for our day. There is no better guide to understanding the way the world works, what drives people to do the things they do, and especially the forces of government, family, money, conspiracy and power. The world and its events are better seen from God’s perspective when the Book of Mormon is read daily. It brings an awareness, a protection and a peace of mind, knowing that God understands exactly what is going on, and he has prepared a way for our deliverance.

After all of my experience with the Book of Mormon, the witness I have is that it is an inspired work, and it came from God. It carries His spirit and I know that it came from Him.

Talia’s Book of Mormon Witness

I’m an eighteen-year-old member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and I have learned for myself that this church is true. The Book of Mormon stands as a witness of Jesus Christ and supports the Bible in teachings of God’s word. I have read this book and felt my Heavenly Father speaking to me through its pages. I know that the Prophet Joseph Smith restored the gospel to the earth after it was lost, and that he translated the Book of Mormon so we can have it with us now, for our guidance and learning. I know, because I kneeled down and asked my Father in Heaven to confirm these things for me, and he answered, as he will answer anyone with a sincere and willing heart.

Heavenly Father loves you. If you doubt that, ask Him yourself in fervent prayer. I hope you take the time and opportunity to read this book. It means the world to me; it has changed my life.

Jordan’s Book of Mormon Witness

Dear Reader-

My name is Jordan Clive. I was baptized at age 8 and have grown up in an LDS family, but I did not receive my testimony of the Book of Mormon from my family. I attribute my testimony in this sacred book to the Holy Ghost, which is the means of revelation by which we can attain knowledge concerning God’s truth.

When I was 18 years old, I made a decision to myself that I would read the Book of Mormon every single day in order to know for myself if it is true. I needed to know for myself if this book really was written by God’s prophets in ancient times on the American continent or if it was just written by a strange farmer in New York. The commitment I made to myself to read it every day has never stopped. I am now 23. The decision was hard to keep, but I have grown tremendously from staying true to it. I remember incredibly busy days at college and days when I lived in Hawaii when surfing under the bright sun with my friends for 20 minutes more seemed SO much more enticing, but it was because I decided to make the appropriate sacrifices to read this book every day that I have been able to receive so many rich blessings from my Heavenly Father. The book helped me know how to refine myself through repenting of my sins.

From prayerfully reading the Book of Mormon every day and obeying my baptismal covenants, this is what I can promise a sincere and diligent reader of this book. I can promise guidance from the Holy Ghost, which is God’s messenger to His children in this mortal existence who offers peace and knowledge of truth. I can promise a greater understanding of yourself and your relationship with Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ. I testify, also, that you will come to know that the message of the restoration is true. God really did call Joseph Smith to restore Christ’s church in these latter-days with priesthood authority we are still being led by. This will help you know that the prophet Thomas S. Monson is truly a modern prophet. The Book of Mormon reveals the purpose of life, how to be happy, how to change one’s self and be spiritually clean. These are key ingredients to living a life of happiness and purpose. Your testimony in these things will impact your family and friends for the better. Thank you for taking the time to read this book. It has the power to change lives, and the Spirit of the Lord will bring peace to your heart as you sincerely seek to know if it is truly the word of God. I have had that experience as I have read the words of the prophets who lived in North and South America anciently. I know through the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is the word of God in addition to the Bible, and stands as a second witness of our Savior’s mission, to bring us and our families back to the presence of our Heavenly Father. He loves us and knows our deepest desires and wants nothing but our happiness and growth. As you read this book, you will feel His influence in your heart, confirming that what you are reading is the truth. The Holy Ghost will give you guidance, understanding, and a stronger desire to follow the Savior than you have ever felt before.

Life can be hard. The truths contained in the Book of Mormon can give us the strength and wisdom we need to face life’s challenges with faith and hope, knowing there is a plan for our happiness and success. Our Savior will lead us by the hand through this journey if we will reach out and accept the loving hands he extends.

Through the miracle of the restoration of the gospel through a modern prophet, Joseph Smith, the authority of the priesthood has been given to us and provides all the ordinances required for our salvation. Full knowledge of the plan of salvation is available to us through the Savior’s word as revealed to his prophets, ancient and modern. Pray with a sincere heart to know if this book is from the Lord. I testify you will receive personal revelation confirming to your mind and your heart that the Book of Mormon is divine instruction from a merciful and loving God to his children.

Ben’s Book of Mormon Witness

I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is another testament of Jesus Christ and a companion to the Bible. The Book of Mormon is also a witness to the world that Jesus Christ lives, visited the American continent and testifies that God’s word is not exclusive, nor limited to the stick of Judah (Bible). God’s word can even come to us
personally through prayer. I know it is true based on my experience with reading and praying about it. Whenever I read and pray about it, I feel good and I feel happy. And I know that every good thing comes from God.

One of the best things about the Book of Mormon is the personal invitation to know whether it is true or not. Moroni 10:3-5 tells us that when you read these things you should ask God in prayer whether it is true or not. If you do so with a sincere heart, with real intent and with faith in Christ as it mentions, you can know for yourself if it is true. One of the most wonderful things about the gospel of Jesus Christ is knowing you can have a personal relationship with God. No matter who you are, where you are or what you’ve done in life. God’s love is not exclusive to any particular people or person, but is inclusive to all of His Children, the human race, and He is waiting for us to come to Him. I testify that you can know for yourself if the Book of Mormon is true.

I have been blessed to grow up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was raised in a strong family who taught me the gospel through both lesson and example. I have heard the stories from the scriptures from a very young age, and they always seemed like second nature to me.

As I have grown up and ventured out on my own, I have discovered a personal love for the scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. The stories that were so familiar to me have come alive as I have studied them more in depth. By reading and studying the Book of Mormon, I have found many principles to apply in my life. I know the book is true and is inspired scripture because the principles it teaches work. I have gained a personal testimony of the Book of Mormon because I feel the Holy Spirit touch my heart when I read it, and as I apply its teachings in my life, things go better than when I don’t.

One of the strongest testimonies to me that the Book of Mormon is true is that it always applies. People may think it is outdated or unrealistic, but I see that the patterns set forth in that book all around me today. I see people making the same mistakes and suffering the same consequences. This has offered me a lot of incentive in the past to try and obey more faithfully, because I did not want to suffer the same consequences. As I have grown and matured more and strengthened my relationship to God, I want to obey because I love God.

I find inspiration and comfort from the Book of Mormon. I am reminded that God always knows His people and their needs. He will always reach out a hand to them, even while He is punishing them for their disobedience. This is a principle taught in all scripture, but I think quite poignantly in the Book of Mormon. Almost from the beginning of the book, prophecies are shared with prophets that the long-term outlook for their people is quite bleak. Yet, all individuals who obey and love God are not only spared, but saved. This gives me hope today, as I see wickedness all around me. It is difficult to resist and withstand so many strong temptations in a quickly changing world, but reading the Book of Mormon reminds me that this is all so temporary. The only thing that matters is God and what He thinks. If He is my focus, I cannot be too far away from where I need to be.

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is very comforting to me to know that He has always reached out His hand to protect His righteous followers. I believe there are many more records which are now lost, though not to God, which testify of Jesus Christ. This helps me to feel closer to Him, because I know if He cared about all of these other people, then He also cares about me.
